On Saturday, before her party, we had Harper's dedication. Our church doesn't do them during the services, and at first, that didn't sit well with me. I just thought they were lazy and didn't want to deal with it. I now understand their heart behind it. They want this time to be spent with the people who are actually in your child's life and are truly praying for them. I am so thankful for the thought that went into this at our church because this time was amazing (I have been to MANY wonderful baby dedications at churches, so please don't think I am knocking those. As our pastor always says, our way isn't better, it's just different, and that's how I view the baby dedications). Corby and I read the verses that we hope are evident in her life, and then everyone else got a chance to share some encouragement.
Here are our prayers for Harper:
Psalm 139:13-14- That she will truly understand the power and truth of being wonderfully made
Matthew 5:14-16- That through her life, other will glorify the Lord and not her or us
Colossians 3:23-24- That she will do everything for the Lord's glory and that we will encourage her in her talents
Proverbs 31: 25-26, 30- She will choose speaking wisdom over gossip and character over beauty
I Thessalonians 5:11- She will be a constant encouragement to her friends
Zephaniah 3:17- Recognize the Lord's love for her and that He is always there for her
She was encouraged by others to be a good friend and have a positive group of friends, to always rely on the Lord (especially in adversity), Jude 1:24-25, Jeremiah 29:11-13, Ephesians 3:17-19, to live a life untainted from the world, that her relationship with the Lord will be the most important thing in her life, and that she will find ways to remain unpolluted by the world.
I am forever thankful for this time that we had with our family and closest friends. We will continue to pray that in the Lord's time, He will turn her heart towards Him, and she will become a believer. And in the mean time, we will continue to pray that that day will be sooner rather than later! Here are a few pictures that Leah took... Harper was loving all of the attention.
She was very interested in the Bible
She was very busy the whole time!
Taking a break in Kay-Kay's lap
Entertaining everyone on the floor!
Back to momma and dadda
And she ended in Matt's lap.

It was a beautiful ceremony. I thought Corby did a wonderful job in leading the dedication and the scripture verses read on Harper's behalf were beautiful.
We are so blessed to have Harper in our life and she is so blessed to have such a wonderful support group praying for her that God's will be done in her life.
Love, Gama and Pop Pop
