A weekend of "firsts"

We had some rough nights of sleep (or should I say no sleep) on Wednesday and Thursday... so I decided that for Friday we needed to make some changes. Harper had been sleeping (clearly that term is so relative!) in the pack n play in our room, but the screaming 4 feet away from me at 3 am was almost too much for me to handle. So on Friday, I put her in her crib for all of her naps, allowing her to put herself to sleep- and she was successful! Last night we put her to bed at 10:30 and she woke up at 3:45 to eat and then 7:45 to wake up! I felt like a whole new person this morning when I woke up! So the first night in her crib went really well... I just hope the second night is just as successful!

Another "first" for her today, was our trip to church. We go on Saturday nights and haven't been since she was born... so Corby and I were both so ready to be back. She handled most of the music really well, but when I tried to put her in the carrier during one of the last songs, she started screaming. So Harper and I sat in the cry room for the rest of the service. Hopefully next time she'll be asleep before anything begins, and we'll be able to stay in the sanctuary the whole time. That will definitely be our goal until she heads off to the nursery.

And now... just to please all of Harper's fans... here are a few precious pictures of her!

Sometimes I think she forgets that she isn't in the womb anymore

Snoozing on her favorite guy... Daddy

Tonight she grabbed my nose as I was talking to her/ trying to calm her down- it was precious!

I'm glad she's sleeping better. THere is really just no way to explain the sleep deprivation int he first few weeks and it's funny how you don't even remember it later.
Ferber wrote a really good book (i think) called solve your child's sleep problems (it is really similar to Babywise which we did, but more laid back)it's a great resource!

HI Lauren,
Thank you for stopping by my blog, for your sweet & encouraging comment, and for your prayers. I so appreciate prayers and I feel them every day, especially when things are really hard and depressing, thinking about near strangers in another part of the country, praying for ME and for MY DAD, is so uplifiting! I did check out your friend blog, and want to spend more time their reading/catching up. She seems like and incredibly and strong woman with a deep love for her mother. I can't imagine her situation but, then again, before my Dad got sick, I couldn't have imagined living the life I am. We really don't know how strong Christ makes up until we are "put through the fire".

I did find your blog through Lindsey and I love reading both your blogs. Miss Harper is so adorable, and she has some darn cute outfits! I hope and pray someday I have a little girl of my own but, till now I will live vicariously through others, lol! I'm hope that your new sleep technique is still working! I use to think I would only sleep WITH my babies the first few month until I shared a room with my cousin and her new daughter while on vacation. The WHOLE night she grunted, whimpered, cooed, etc., even when they baby was ASLEEP she made SO MUCH NOISE! I was up all night, it made me realize how HARD it can be to sleep with a baby in your bed, even if they don't wake up every hour!
