Also, in case you're wondering, the IV that Kathy put in last night had to be changed today by my wonderful nurse, Tracey. She had no idea why it was placed in my hand and not in my arm. I wish I could say I was surprised, but let's be honest... it's Kathy we're talking about here!

Kathy is my new best friend...
Clearly, with the popularity of the name Kathy, I am not referring to last night's Kathy. I'll call my new friend today, Kath... I like her that much. For some reason a very small amount of pitocin caused my uterus to go CRAZY, so my contractions were out of control... and Harper wasn't a fan. So I called for an epidural, and Kath saved the day! I was at 4 cm at that time, so I don't feel like such a pansy. I went from 1-4 in about 2 hours. However, it appears that time has stopped because I was just checked and am only a 5... such a bummer. At noon my nurse assumed I'd have her by 5 with the way I was going, but no such luck. I can finally have the computer on my stomach and see it, since I'm not wearing the stinking oxygen mask anymore. Yes, Harper also wasn't a fan of one of my cervical exams, and she let us know about it! Hopefully things will start moving a little faster... you know, so that I'm not laying here all night long!

I'm laughing so hard about ol Kathy. Sure am glad she brought that epidural though!! Take a picture of Kath while you're there waiting for Harper!
Your blog has made my entire day! New Kathy rocks!!
Kathy the nurse sounds like a horror character from an SNL skit gone bad. Here's to good nurses the rest of the way (and let's hope that's not too long!)
I am loving your updates!!! So glad you have a new Kathy that you love! Also, now I am really mad cause my IV was in my hand and I had to put up with that thing for 3 days! No fair ;)
YAY for an epidural!!!
Hey Lauren,
Just checking in on you.
Just be glad you did not have to take Castor Oil! I took CO to keep Chris from having Kennedy's
assassination day as his birthday.
Baaarrrrfff.
Love, Mary Helen
Of Course your first "giving birth" story is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. I have laughed out loud at every post!! I mean, I can't believe you even have time to keep us updated!! :) But, back to the cardigan comment....does it surprise you that I thought your robe was a cardigan? I know if it were me, I would pack one!! OK, I hope Harper has come by now!! Eeehhh...can't wait!!
Oh Lauren! I feel like I'm living this through you...and these next four weeks are beginning to look more like a blessing than a curse at this point :) I'm proud of all you are doing there at Baylor...I just can't wait to get the happy news! By the way, glad Corby slept well :) May not get another night like that for a little while! We missed him up here at crossfit today! Anxiously awaiting your next post!
Your stories are so funny!!! Don't forget to get pics of all your belongs...and I was going to wish you good luck but Linds just posted Harper is here!!! CONGRATS...you're a MOMMA!!!
